NEW YORK, New York (September 22, 2020)—For Takisha Sturdivant-Drew, celebrity hairstylist and founder of TSD Hair, creating the perfect look for her clients is more than a passion—it has become a foray into politics. Throughout the years she has learned that hair, especially Black women’s hair, holds deep political implications and that her clients’ choices often make more than just a style statement.
Compelled by the intersections of politics and hair, Sturdivant-Drew has announced that she will be hosting a series of three upcoming conversations with her celebrity clients. PolitiCURL: A Candid Chat with Friends about Politics, Hair, and Everything in Between will feature a monthly conversation with a celebrity client on everything from their own style choices to the political history surrounding hair.
PolitiCURL will be hosted on Takisha’s Instagram Live channel beginning later this month. September’s conversation (September 28th at 6 pm EST) will feature a conversation with Kerry Washington. In October, Sturdivant-Drew will sit down with Naturi Naughton (date and time TBD). Details are forthcoming about November’s celebrity guest and date.
